We're excited to announce that Mr. Geoff Meiss is joining our school district as the new JH/HS principal! With a passion for education and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive learning environment, Mr. Meiss brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and commitment to learning. He wrote the following introduction letter to help everyone get to know him better!
Dear Fair Play School Community,
My name is Geoff Meiss and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Fair Play Jr./Sr. High School. I am looking forward to joining you this year and am committed to the success of our students and being a part of the Hornet community.
Briefly, I grew up in Houston, Texas where, after a small teaching stint in Georgia, I returned to teach in my home district, eventually meeting my wife, Tammy and had three kids, Abby, Emma, and Landon. My last two are currently in college at OTC with Abby protecting them from above. We moved back to Springfield in 2005 and have lived here ever since. I am a huge Chiefs and Texas Longhorns fan, enjoy fishing and hunting, woodworking, and spending time with my family.
My educational experience includes a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Education in Administration and Leadership. I have 23 years of educational experience at all grade levels including teaching PE, social studies, special education and secondary alternative school. I have five years administrative experience including two years at Richland and the last three years as the 7-12 Principal at Anderson County Jr./Sr. High School.
Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to working collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and community members to create a learning community focused on doing what it takes to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed. I am excited to be a part of Fair Play schools and look forward to getting to know each of you in the coming weeks and months. I am dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive environment where every student can be successful and develop their own unique path to becoming productive citizens.
My door is always open and I welcome your positive contributions to our learning community. I hope that our collaboration will create the absolute best learning experience for your student. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. Although it is the middle of summer, I already look forward to next school year.
Geoff
